Eja S-211

Hello, I am looking for any information on a 22 sq meter my father owned in Milwaukee, Wi. The name of the boat was Eja, S 211. my father said she was one of the larger 22′s built, she was a Sweden boat but we never knew who the designer was.In a storm on lake Michigan she broke away from her moring and broke up against the break water and sank. Any info or pictures would be great. Thanks. Erik.

Lancea All Wet!

We just received this video from the owner of Lancea. Dave purchased Lancea earlier this ...

  1. According to Per Thelander’s book “Alla Vara Skargardskryssare” Eja was built in 1936, to the 1925 version of the class rule. She was designed by L Eklund, and built in Gavle by Blomgrens bv. Apparently sold from Sweden to Java (no date given) and then to the US.

It would be worth contacting the Maritime Museum in Stockholm at (in English), they have a big archive of photos and drawings.

  2. Some more information on Eja, S211. I have a small collection of yearbooks of the Royal Swedish Sailing Association (the KSSS), which helpfully includes a list of all the square metre boats they were aware of each year.

In the 1936 yearbook S211 is called “SK Surfing 1936” and is owned by S.K. Surfing in Gavle
The 1937 book has the same name, but owner is E Anderssen of Gavle
The 1941 book has S211 as Eja, owned by E Anderssen of Gavle
The 1944 book doesn’t have her in at all.
